Composite Bonding Abingdon

Until recently, small changes to your smile could only be achieved with porcelain restorations like inlays, onlays or crowns. We can now achieve similar results with a pliable composite resin material that is applied directly to the teeth. This is the same material used for white fillings. We start by lightly etching the surface of the tooth and prepare it for bonding. We then colour match the resin to the surrounding teeth, or to the desired level of whiteness. The resin is applied to the tooth, shaped, and then cured with UV light. Once set, the tooth can be refined and polished to perfection. The treatment is completed in just one visit.

When applied to a single tooth, we could call this composite bonding, but when we apply this to multiple teeth, it is known as composite veneers. This offers a cost-effective alternative to veneers that can be applied in just one visit, with no waiting for the veneers to be created. We can either apply bonding to each tooth individually, or use a mould that fits over your teeth and then allows us to inject a thin layer of composite resin that covers your teeth. Like composite bonding, composite veneers are designed to last for around 5 years. After this time, you can either replace the bonding, or opt for a long-term restoration like veneers.
