Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding Eclipse

Achieve smile perfection the easy way with composite bonding. This innovative treatment can be completed in just one visit, with no downtime or increased sensitivity.

Introduction to Composite Bonding

Composite bonding uses the same soft resin used for white fillings, but we apply this to the front of your teeth instead. The soft resin is shaped and then hardened with UV light. After this we can refine the shape and then polish it to perfection. This treatment is highly effective for addressing single tooth imperfections that are impacting the visual harmony of your smile. This could include chips, cracks, small gaps, rotations, discolouration and peg-like teeth. Treatment is very quick and we don’t have to prepare the tooth extensively as we would for crowns or veneers. Composite bonding will typically last for around 5 years and then start to wear away.

Benefits of Composite Bonding

This treatment is growing in popularity with younger patients looking for a quick fix. Rather than waiting for orthodontics to fix a minor rotation, patients can now choose to create a cosmetic fix that helps to restore symmetry to the smile. It’s a versatile treatment that can be used for emergency fixes alongside smile makeover plans. There is minimal preparation of the tooth surface, and the material will gradually wear down over time, rather than chipping or breaking away from the tooth. After 5 years, you could replace the composite bonding, or opt for a more permanent restoration such as crowns or veneers.

Composite Bonding Vs Composite Veneers

We can apply bonding to a single tooth, or we can create a full smile makeover by applying it to all of the teeth that are visible when you smile. This is known as composite veneers, and it’s a popular alternative to porcelain veneers for those on a budget. We can either shape each tooth individually, or we can use a mould that fits over your teeth and allows us to inject the resin into the spaces around your teeth. Once cured, the mould is removed, and we refine the composite veneers before a final polish. Like composite bonding, veneers will last for around 5 years.
