Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding Isle of Wight

Upgrade your smile with a non-invasive cosmetic treatment from Damira Dental on the Isle of Wight.

Introduction to Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is one of the newest cosmetic treatments available, and it is fast becoming the most in-demand. This non-invasive treatment allows us to address small imperfections without resorting to more extensive (and expensive) treatments. It’s perfect for those on a budget, or those trying cosmetic dentistry for the first time. Composite bonding works by applying a tooth-coloured resin directly to the teeth. We shape this as required, and then use a UV light to cure it, causing it to harden. We can then polish and refine the shape to ensure your smile is perfectly balanced and refined. If there are small things about your smile that you would love to change, this could be perfect for you.

Benefits of Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is very popular because it delivers incredible results in just one visit. There’s no waiting for orthodontics to straighten your teeth, or whitening treatments to lift stains. You can address any and all imperfections at once, including chips, cracks, discolouration, misaligned teeth, asymmetrical teeth and even small gaps. Since the material is applied directly to your teeth, it’s far more cost-effective than veneers or crowns, which need to be created in a lab. It’s also minimally invasive, so we don’t have to prepare the tooth surface as we would with veneers, for example. In general, composite bonding is designed to last around five years before it needs to be replaced.

Differences Between Composite Bonding And Composite Veneers

For more extensive restorations, consider composite veneers. This is a great way to upgrade your smile on a budget. It can also provide the ideal interim treatment while you decide if veneers are right for you. With composite veneers, we create a mould of your perfect smile that fits over your existing teeth. We can then inject the resin into the mould and harden it with UV light. The result is a same day veneer restoration that will last for around five years. It’s important to remember that composite veneers will look slightly different to porcelain, as porcelain looks slightly more natural, while composite veneers can look a little more opaque.
