Composite Bonding

Composite Bonding Melton Mowbray

Address the small imperfections that are impacting your confidence with composite bonding. This innovative treatment plan will deliver big results with small changes.

Introduction to Composite Bonding

Composite bonding uses the same material used for white fillings, but instead of using it to restore teeth after removing decay, we can use it to change the appearance of your teeth. We colour-match the resin to the surrounding teeth and then apply this directly to a tooth that has been lightly etched in preparation. We then shape the resin before curing it with UV light. Once cured, we can refine the shape and then polish the restoration to achieve a beautiful finish. With good care, composite bonding will typically last for around 5 years. After this time, you’ll need to either replace the bonding, try a more long-term restoration, or allow the resin to simply wear away.

Benefits of Composite Bonding

This treatment is popular with younger patients who might not have the budget for more expensive porcelain restorations. Small changes to individual teeth can have a huge impact on the overall balance of the smile. We commonly use composite bonding for issues like chipped teeth, small gaps, discolouration, uneven teeth sizing, misalignments and peg-like teeth. By designing your smile in real time, we can ensure that it perfectly matches your facial features, so your teeth don’t end up looking too prominent. The minimally invasive nature of this treatment also means that you won’t need to worry about losing any enamel on your teeth.

Composite Bonding Vs Composite Veneers

When we apply this treatment to a single tooth, it can help to achieve greater visual harmony and balance. We can also apply composite resin to all of the front teeth, which replicates the results of porcelain veneers, but for a fraction of the cost. This allows us to achieve a full smile makeover that will last for about 5 years before it needs to be replaced or renewed. Patients should be aware of the limitations of this treatment. While porcelain veneers offer a look that is similar to the glossy appearance of enamel, composite veneers may appear a little more flat and opaque.
